What is Quality First Teaching at Orchard Therapeutic Farm?

 

While we endeavour to provide an alternative to school-based learning, our primary focus remains on delivering 'quality education,' with a strong emphasis on effective teaching and learning to ensure that children make significant progress and achieve impactful outcomes.

To uphold the standards of quality education, we collaborate closely with Oxford's 'School Improvement Team' to implement a rigorous quality assurance process for our teaching and learning practices.

 

Considering the unique composition of our student cohorts and our predominantly QTS staff, we have adopted a specific teaching pedagogy (method) known as 'Quality First Teaching' (QFT). QFT is characterised by its unwavering commitment to providing high-quality and inclusive instruction tailored to the individual needs of each student with special educational needs. It relies on a range of effective learning strategies, including differentiated instruction and the utilisation of SEND resources. In essence, QFT promotes a personalised learning experience and encourages greater inclusivity for pupils with SEND requirements.
