Admissions and Referrals

Referrals to OTF

We have active referral pathways with schools across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire, and Surrey.

We have contracts and service level agreements with Local Authorities, SEN Schools, Residential homes and Parents/ Carers.

We cannot be a child’s primary educational provision.

We consider partnership working an essential part of our work, thus we will attend professional meetings where necessary.

It is important that the provision we provide meets the needs of the individual student. As such, we consider all admissions requests on a case-by-case basis. We accept all children who have additional special education needs such:

  • Emotionally Based School Avoidance ( EBSA)
  • Poor Mental Health and social anxieties
  • ASD
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)
  • Anxiety
  • On the cusp of exclusion

We accept children with Education, Health and Care plans (EHCP) and also those without. We currently do not have the facilities to accept children with high dependence on physical disabilities.

While we are keen to help every young person who needs us and can benefit from our support, it is important that the young person is prepared to go on a journey with us and wants to be with us.

All our students agree to three conditions when they join us:

  • That they want to come and will attend regularly
  • They are considerate towards the other students, the staff, visitors, the welfare of the animals and the property and be part of our community.

Whilst we appreciate some of our children come to us with behaviours that are challenging, we also believe that our environment and relationship building creates opportunities for our students to feel safe and secure where they are less likely to display behaviours than they would in a more structured educational setting. We have our core values and expectations, that we adhere to as a community and ensure that we keep each other safe.

Referrals Process

If you are interested in your young person attending OTF, we start with a visit to the site to see if the young person feels it will be right for them, gradually increasing the time each day of transition amounting to up to 15 hours a week. Depending on our availability, we will then be able to offer your young person days that we feel are appropriate for their needs and group.

If we are ever at full capacity, your young person will be added to our waiting list and you will be accommodated as soon as possible.

If you’d like to find out more about us at OTF or would like to make a referral, please contact us for further information or to discuss whether we are able to meet the referring child's needs.
