About Our Farm

At Orchard Therapeutic Farm, we believe in creating an environment where every child has the opportunity to flourish, explore, engage  and experience learning in a truly unique and supportive setting, leaving them feeling empowered again.

Our nature-based approach offers a calm, therapeutic environment where young people feel understood, supported, and valued. Guided by a team of experienced SEN practitioners, we use carefully considered interventions and Thrive-informed practices to help young people feel safe, build confidence, and develop meaningful relationships at their own pace.

Many of the young people we support may experience challenges linked to mental health, trauma, or anxiety, which can sometimes present as Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), withdrawal, or difficulties with communication. Within our setting, these experiences are met with understanding and compassion, allowing young people to feel secure and begin to re-engage positively.

Set within a peaceful, low-demand environment, the farm nurtures natural curiosity, supports emotional regulation, and encourages positive experiences within a close-knit community. Strong, trusting relationships are developed not only with staff but also through meaningful interactions with animals and the natural world as well as providing exposure to learning hubs where qualified, kind mentors engage our young people.

Our purpose-built spaces — including an Art Room, Woodwork room, Trades and Engineering Centre, Fishing Lake, Reptile bus, Dog Grooming Centre, Coffee shop and Hospitality and Catering Centre's are fully equipped, along with dedicated Therapeutic support areas which include Occupational Health Therapists provided by our local University— supports creation of a calm, welcoming, and accessible environment supporting young people holistically throughout the journey with us.

With access to extensive outdoor space, we provide rich, engaging experiences that are thoughtfully tailored to each young person. Rather than focusing on past difficulties, we prioritise strengths, interests, and individual goals, supporting each young person to move forward with confidence and success.

All activities are carefully planned in line with each young person’s EHCP outcomes, incorporating therapeutic support, vocational opportunities, aspirational experiences, and high-quality teaching — ensuring a balanced and meaningful learning journey.
