  • Building Everyday Life Skills at Orchard Therapeutic Farm

At Orchard Therapeutic Farm, we believe that learning goes far beyond the classroom or workshop. Alongside vocational training, our students are supported to develop essential everyday life skills that will help them thrive with confidence and independence.

For the first term, we focused on personal health and daily routines – from brushing teeth and washing to the small habits that make a big difference. These sessions are about more than just hygiene; they are about building self-care, responsibility, and pride in looking after yourself.

We’ve been sharing good practice together, with students swapping ideas and even recommending products that have worked well for them. One learner brought in items suitable for sensitive skin, showing how thoughtful and practical peer support can be. To ensure everyone has what they need, Orchard also provides essentials such as toothpaste and toiletries when required, making sure no one is left out.

These everyday lessons underpin the bigger picture of what we do at Orchard. By combining real-world skills with a safe and supportive environment, our young people are empowered to take positive steps in every aspect of their lives.
