This week our lovely small group gathered at the Orchard Therapeutic Barn for a day full of learning, laughter and plenty of muddy fun.
The session began with homemade pizzas for lunch. Everyone got stuck in, from rolling the dough to choosing their favourite toppings. Cooking together is not only delicious but also a brilliant way to build independence, confidence and everyday life skills.
Afterwards, the group baked blackberry muffins with fruit picked fresh from the farm. There’s something special about wandering the hedgerows, gathering berries and then turning them into a tasty treat. It’s a gentle, therapeutic way of connecting with nature – and the smiles when the muffins came out of the oven said it all.
To round off the day, it was time for some good old-fashioned mud play. Sensory activities like this give children and young people the freedom to explore, experiment and express themselves in a safe, supportive space.
Our small groups aren’t just about activities – they’re about building confidence, nurturing friendships and celebrating every achievement, big or small.
