Our Macmillan Coffee Morning brought the orchard to life, with students welcoming guests, serving coffees and proudly showcasing their artwork. They raised an amazing £250 and gained real confidence along the way, turning a simple fundraiser into a morning filled with connection, creativity and community spirit.
This morning the orchard came alive in that soft, familiar way it does when people gather with purpose. The tipi filled gradually, the warmth of fresh coffee drifting through the air as families, friends and visitors stepped inside to support our Macmillan Coffee Morning. It was a gentle reminder of how naturally our community comes together when there is both kindness and cake involved.
Our students took the lead from the moment the first guests arrived. They brewed coffees, served bakes, welcomed everyone in and settled quickly into their front of house roles with a confidence that seemed to grow by the minute. By lunchtime they had raised an incredible £250 for Macmillan, all through their own hard work and the generosity of those who joined us.
For the first time, our students were also able to showcase the artwork they have been creating with the guidance of local artist and teacher, Nicholas Maitland. Their pieces lined the space with colour and imagination, each one carrying its own story. Watching visitors pause to admire them, ask questions and appreciate the effort behind every stroke brought a real sense of pride to the students who had poured so much into their work.
The whole morning unfolded with an ease that made it feel far more than a fundraiser. It became an opportunity for our young people to experience real responsibility, to take ownership of a welcoming space and to feel the confidence that comes from meaningful interaction. Their smiles said everything.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success. Your support gave our students a chance to shine, to connect and to see the impact they can make when they step forward. It was a warm, memorable morning in the orchard and we are already looking forward to the next one.
