We are excited to introduce Welfare Wednesday, a space for sharing practical blogs and tips around safeguarding for parents, carers, and staff. These posts are designed to feel supportive and informative, helping us all work together to keep young people safe and thriving.
This Week: Helping Young People Stay Safe on Roblox
Roblox is a platform many of our young people enjoy. It’s creative, social, and full of opportunities to play and connect, but it also brings challenges that are worth exploring together. There’s no set minimum age, and players often share spaces with much older users. Features like chat and voice chat mean experiences can vary widely.
Rather than relying on advice like “just be sensible,” we can create space for open, curious conversations that help young people feel supported and understood.
Questions you might ask:
What games do you enjoy most?
Do you chat with other players? Who can message you?
Have you ever seen anything that worried or upset you?
Do you play in private servers or public spaces?
Do you know when real money is involved in the game?
Practical ways to support:
Show interest, watch or play alongside them
Agree clear rules around spending
Reassure them they can tell you if something feels wrong
Help them learn how to block and report calmly
Use safety settings and age-appropriate controls
Online safety starts with conversations, not restrictions. Together, we can help young people enjoy gaming in a way that feels safe and supported.
