Continual Professional Development is central to how we work at Orchard Therapeutic Farm. We are committed to building and refining our skills to ensure we provide safe, thoughtful and high quality support for every young person in our care.
Our team engages in regular CPD across safeguarding, SEN, behaviour, emotional regulation and wellbeing. This shared training ensures a consistent, trauma informed approach across the provision, supporting young people who may have experienced anxiety, disengagement or disruption in their educational journeys.
A key focus of our recent INSET day was the implementation and standardisation of our progression trackers. These trackers allow progress to be shared clearly and consistently with parents, carers, students and commissioners, helping everyone involved to understand each young person’s development and next steps. Clear systems support clarity, accountability and trust.
Safeguarding remains a priority. With Safeguarding in Practice accreditation held within the leadership team, we maintain strong oversight, clear procedures and a culture where safeguarding is embedded in daily practice rather than treated as a standalone requirement.
Alongside training and reflection, we recognise the importance of staff wellbeing. Supporting young people effectively depends on a team that feels valued, supported and able to reflect. Time was built into the day to acknowledge the dedication and care shown by staff throughout the year, reinforcing the importance of looking after one another as part of a healthy and sustainable provision.
Further CPD is planned for our return in January. Learning, reflection and improvement are not one off events at Orchard Therapeutic Farm. They are an ongoing part of how we work, supporting both our team and the young people we serve.
